Epic Water double hand rod, specially designed to target big Muskie and Pike. This rod can handle any big sized fly and makes your casting effortless and will not wear you out after a long day on the water.
A grain window around 465-510 grains has worked great for this rod. We personally like longer heads with it. The Vision Pikemania line with a 39 foot head in a 10wt intermediate at 465 grains is a suitable line for this rod when overhand casting.
If you go XXL sized flies, a good recommendation is a jump up to 510, where the SA Sonar musky gen-2 intermediate 3/5 sink is a great fit. With this you can comfortably throw a 13 inch fly. With that said, many people have told us they like very short heads on them also.
The line, weight and size on the fly is a personal preference, but this information may give you a starting point.
If you are testing with no fly on, a long head in the 450-465 grain window will be good choice.
